That’s why we carry such a deep offering of some of the best men’s fragrances on the planet. It’s also why we encourage our male customers to shake things up by adding variety to their private fragrance collection.

For our purposes here, we’d like to explore what we consider to be the most exquisite of them all…. Clive Christian.
Thanks to the Guinness Book of World Records, Clive Christian is well known as the maker of “The World’s Most Expensive
Perfume.” What makes it so special?
In 1999 Clive Christian took the reins of one of the oldest British Perfume Houses, The Crown Perfumery, first made famous 135 years ago when it was uniquely honored by Queen Victoria with the gift of her crown as a symbol of utmo
st quality and British excellence. Clive Christian revived the original values of the House to create pure perfumes in
complex formulas with the most precious natural ingredients from the corners of the British Empire. This vision led to the creation of the Definitive Collection of perfumes – 1872, X and No.1- which was to be recognized by the Guinness Book of Records as The World’s Most Expensive Perfume.
Currently there are four Clive Christian fragrances on the market — No. 1 Perfume, 1872 Perfume, X Perfume, and C Perfume.
Maison Weiss carries all of them. The newest of these is C Perfume, which is best described as a dominant spirit with seductive strength. This is a “Must Smell”. However, for Father’s Day we recommend the Clive Christian Traveler Set which includes .34 fl oz bottles of three Clive Christian fragrances. It’s a great way for your father to have the chance to try No. 1, X, and 1872. See the titillating descriptions of each below. Then, stop by to try them all.
Let’s start with the fragrance that earned the title “The World’s Most Expensive Perfume” — Clive Christian’s No. 1 Perfume (see image above). This fragrance can be described as oriental and ambery.
It has top notes of bergamot, lime, Sicilian mandarin, cardamom, nutmeg, and thyme; heart notes of lily of the valley, rose, jasmine, ylang ylang, and heliotrope; and base notes of cedarwood, sandalwood, vetiver, ambery woods and vanilla. One of the
main factors in the price of this fragrance is the fact that the jasmine it contains may only be harvested once per year and is collected by white-gloved hands.
Next in the travel set is Clive Christian’s X Perfume for men (second from right in the Clive Christian Travel Set pictured to the right). The commanding character of X can be attributed to Orris, root of the Iris flower, prized in ancient times for its power and majesty. X is a spicy and woody fragrance with top notes of bergamot, spices cardamom, ginger, and juniper berry; heart notes of sambac oil, jasmine hedione, pimento oil, and orris; and base notes of amber, vetiver oil, cedarwood, moss, cinnamon, and vanilla.
The final fragrance featured in the Clive Christian Travel set is 1872 Perfume. This is a classic English fragrance made in honor of the year the renowned Crown Perfumery was founded. It’s aroma is a classic petit grain, mandarin, and lavender combined with the Roman Empire’s sacred herb, Clary Sage, to bestow energy and invigoration. This fragrance is best described as a spicy citrus with top notes of grapefruit, lime, bergamot, petit grain, black pepper, and nutmeg; heart notes of cyclamen, sage, freesia, tagete oil, and jasmine; and base notes of cedarwood, patchouli, olibanum, amber, and powdery musk.
